«Russian railways» OJSC, RUSNANO and Nanotechnology Center for Composites, which is a part of the Holding company "Composite", have cooperatively tested new protection technology for the railroad poles.

The information about the carrying out of test was reported on Tuesday, 19 March during the Russian Business Week to “Interfax” by Valentin Gapanovich, the Senior Vice President of RR. The top manager didn’t specify the precise time of the mass adoption of the new technology and explained it by saying that it is quite a serious infrastructure project.

Nowadays a pilot batch of railroad polls is installed on the area from Pavlovsky Posad to Elektrogorsk, near Moscow, and at the station of Lyublino. The products are launched by “Galen” Company and Nanotechnology Center for Composites (NCC), which is created with the participation of the Fund of Infrastructure and Educational programs and the Holding Company "Composite".

"The use of composite reinforcement in the railroad poles instead of metal is primarily explained by its resistance to corrosion and adverse weather. Such poles do not require special maintenance; they are ecologically safe and durable. These factors are especially important considering the great length of the Russian railways, significant part of which goes through areas with extreme climatic conditions,” reported RUSNANO.
